WORK ATTITUDE

One of my colleagues asked if I have considered getting another staff to help to cope with the workload. What I really need is not an extra hand but more competent and committed staff.

Today I was so pissed with one of my subordinates. After receiving some feedback from fellow workers, I counselled her yesterday. Yet today, I was handed some envelopes with address labels crookedly pasted by her (mind you, labels were very crookedly pasted). Could tell that she had no qualms sending out those mailers as she even had the postage franked on them. She also had problems meeting deadlines for simple tasks, so much so that my co-worker didn't dare to delegate jobs to her. So to me, it is as good as not having this headcount. One good staff will be able to cover the jobs of many such staff. Good work attitude is what matters!

Those who are capable, always kena more work. Those who are incapable, will be damn free. Is that what she/he is trying to achieve, the latter. Anyway, I understand your situation. Wanna scold her, also difficult cos you still don't know if she understand or not. Want to sack her / transfer her, must talk to boss. Want to give her things to do, must think twice. Leave her idling ... also not good. Wah !!!! Wah !! How to solve such equation.

Once there was an Engr, who other than good at computer, could not do things tt he was supposed to b recruited for. Oso, he got communication problem.
The Dept Mgr did many things to kick him out legally. Then the Section Mgr took over. At tt time, the Section had to give up one headcount, so this guy kenna. Tis SM, veri good at painting the picture to his peer SMs, and successfully got him xferred to other Dept. Then hor, a few yrs later, the Dept Mgr happened to xfer to tis other Dept, and finally, kicked tis Engr out.
Poor chap, i wld say. But I tink there was a mis-fit in the job.

Ultimate joke fr him:
Engr A was talking to tis Engr on the walkie-talkie, then he said "Roger, Roger."
Tis Engr: Huh??!! There's no Roger here leh.

To Lubbish Bin .. I don't exactly understand what you are trying to say leh.. But the joke portion, I understand. Neverthelss, to transfer / sack the useless pumpkin out of the place isn't a call our level can decide (unless you have soooo much influence .. croc might have.) The staff might be good at other things but if it is a skill set mismatch, he/she should be transferred out lor. Nevertheless, if a staff is suppose to be an asset but turned liability eventually, off he/she should go. Very clear cut ... one... Anyway, one word to croc .. you sway lah !! Hehee .. so next time gotta check the background of who is going to be transferred into help you before you accept the transfer. Increase in Quantity isn't equals to increase in quality and productivity after all.
